Basis Social wins bid to explore research culture in HEIs and research institutes

Today we kick off work for Universities UK (UUK), UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) and the Wellcome Trust to provide evidence on the ways that concordats and agreements – such as Athena Swan, DORA and the Race Equality Charter - affect research culture and the broader research environment in HEIs and research institutes across the UK.

The context for this study is the government’s wider review of the bureaucratic and administrative burdens on HEIs led by Professor Adam Tickell. Reporting in early 2022, the ambition is to free up and better support the best researchers to focus on ‘ground-breaking, ambitious and meaningful research’.

We’re looking forward to working with the inimitable Lesley Patterson among others to deliver a national survey of researchers as well as deep dive case studies to understand the value and impact of concordats.
